Artist History
DaddyFace was a concept born in 1997 and materialized into a band of talented musicians in 1999. Now DaddyFace is a collective thought, or better yet, a freed thought that was finally released to fly around the people. It is a thought that only presents itself when it is smothered by the rhythms of funk, rock, blues, and hip-hop. It is the synergy of generations break-dancing, hopping, and skanking to one constant groove, and that groove is contagious. The groove is not harsh or blunt, but natural as swaying the arms when walking or to bob when a beat sounds just too sweet. The purpose of DaddyFace’s music is to match the rhythms of all people, regardless a person’s background or race. They actually reach their hands out towards their audience to feel the pulse of their heartbeat and play to that heartbeat as if it is the leading beat, and it becomes that. In theory, their belief is that everyone has rhythm, because the world operates through rhythms like the tides, the sun and moon, machines, love-making, and the way we walk. In the 1930’s, Langston Hughes once said, "The heartbeat of America is Jazz," and at his time, it was. The evolution of music transformed from jazz and blues to rock and hip-hop. DaddyFace recognizes that America’s heartbeat is sublimed with kicks from funk, the slowness of blues and country, transformed Gospel, and the rebirth of Rock N’ Roll. DaddyFace is the poster-child for those rhythms. ‘Love’ should be DaddyFace’s last name, because it is a large part of their platform. The musicians together create such a magical original tune that anyone can vibe that they speak of a special love for their loved ones, family, and the people. As soon as DaddyFace took the stage, they quickly became the voice of the soft-spoken people. As social and political activists, they musically address widely known problems ranging from environmental issues to human rights to hate crimes, believing that being musically inclined demands responsibility. As pure musicians, they define their music as being reincarnated, redefined, and rejuvenated. DaddyFace stands as a huge icon for future of bands, the revolution of music, and a better way of life. As long as the people’s hearts are beating, they will play to it, even if it slows down to fit a mood or speeds up, due to lack of time. |
