Artist History
Amethyst was founded in 1995, when Norbert, Ayhan and Wil started a school band. Over the years, people came and go, and only in the beginning of 1999, Amethyst started to be more serious. The line-up seemed to be final with Ayhan, Norbert, Michael, Alex, Bjorn and Serge. Sad to say, Norbert has since left to focus on another band based in Amsterdam, and so has Michael, who wanted to focus on another style...Ivo joined the band originally as a replacement for the keys, but became our new drummer. |

Press Reviews
"Well, some true doom and death metal right now. With this nameless cd by the from Den Bosch originating Amethyst, you'll have to reposition yourself for a moment. The lo-fi cover does not stand in a well relation with the good quality music on this disc. These dark lords of satanic regulations are not too subtle: black metal from Den Bosch is here! The cd starts with a kind of short simple intro that is followed by four songs (about 5 minutes length a piece) that vary between death, doom and black metal that even contain some symphonic sounds. Too bad the synths sound a little thin, but the super-throat of vocalist Serge gets it even. The sound is very raw and cool, but sometimes too clinical and easy. With more money, a good producer and a little more imagination this could be something for the future." (PopCall magazine) |
