Artist description
Through constant regional touring, Portland, Oregon's UHF have seen a growing fan base in every market they hit. They've also been able to solidify their sound, creating their highly anticipated third full-length, IF IT WAS EASY, produced by Gregg Williams, whose credits include Sheryl Crow and The Dandy Warhols.
On their past two albums, "Pieces" and "Lottery", UHF hinted at the prospect of a marveling opus. IF IT WAS EASY realizes that potential. It finds the band comfortably settling in to their own sound. A mixture of tight melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and psychedelic pop that swims around in your head for some time after the music has stopped. Not unlike the layered, well-produced presentation of The Dandy Warhols (without the Brit leanings), or the sensationalism of Beulah. UHF, at times, also exhibits a penchant for traveling the experimental waters originally voyaged by the Flaming Lips.
The complete package from start to finish, IF IT WAS EASY flows smoothly, opening up with the aural psychedelic teaser "She Don't Know", through the bouncy rocker "She's Going Up", the sexy "Easy", and the pleasant acid trip of "Rain on the Street".
This is not an album you only listen to; it is an album you experience, from ears to the mind, as visions start to form in your head with each passing melody swallowing you whole.
IF IT WAS EASY is a pop gem, one that will long outlast any pop trends, staying true to itself while pushing the envelope on what the band has done in the past, exploring unfamiliar territory and conquering it with perfection. UHF has created a timeless masterpiece here, one you shouldn't pass up. |

-- Bill Holmes, Cosmic Debris
"Solid vocal performances and sweet, simmering guitars layered with steady bass and slippery drum beats, all brought together with sunlit organs...what an amazing combination. Not to mention they do it so sincerely and valid, you can't help but fall in love."
-- Alex Steininger inmusicwetrust.com
"Were it that more indie bands put this kind of effort into making LP's that signify from first second to last second."
-- Jack Rabid, The Big Takeover
"A rousing success. What will be especially interesting is UHF when they hit their Abbey Road phase. In the meantime, this is one of the best releases of the past year. Solid stuff."
