Artist description
“gonna make it automatic, in a way you never had it, pornographic, photographic, anything you want” …. Whether you are after hard rock or lush pop laden hooks, SKYCOPTER9 will deliver it all. Formed in Los Angeles in the late summer of ’99, four like-minded individuals got together with one single aim… to be the biggest rock band in the world. And it’s been clear form the start that SKYCOPTER9 have the talent and the balls to prove it. Two months into this fledgling outfit saw packed shows in Los Angeles at the Viper Room, the Opium Den, Dragonfly and Goldfingers. Ears were starting to prick up and people were starting to notice. Recording three demos and building live shows meant SKYCOPTER9 were very much on their way. From the SKYCOPTER9 demo Warner Brothers picked up “Cosmic Explosion” for their hit teen TV series “Roswell”, giving the band a firm pat on the back. The song was also selected by producer Paul Fox (XTC, Texas, Bjork, Sugarcubes) for download on the FastBand.com entertainment website. A series of shows are currently scheduled through January and with more recording lined up, an EP release is expected in the spring.SKYCOPTER9 are Patrick Houlihan (lead vocals, guitar), Jeff Cardoni (lead guitar, vocals) Dave Doyle (bass) and Stuart Johnson (drums). Patrick and Jeff herald from Washington, DC, formerly of DAISYHAZE. The band relentlessly worked the indie circuit touring the East Coast, regularly playing gigs at Boston's Middle East, New York's Brownie's, DC's 9:30 Club and Chapel Hill’s Local 506. They opened for several major label acts including: The Eels, Matchbox 20, The Smithereens and Spacehog. Playing the1997 South By Southwest showcase got them together with producer Jim Ebert (Marvelous Three / Meredith Brooks) who produced the band’s second EP “The Big Burn”. It achieved high success charting at more than 60 college radio stations and earning them a feature in Billboard magazine. After DAISYHAZE’s unfortunate break up Patrick and Jeff moved to Los Angeles where they recruited bass player Dave Doyle (Sacrilicious / Kristen Barry / The Murmurs) and drummer Stuart Johnson (Mathew Sweet / John Doe / New Radicals). Together they formed SKYCOPTER9.For more information contact: Debra Baum / Jason Alexander (323) 936-3374 / (310) 266-5100 |
