Press Reviews
Here's what the critics are saying about Round & A Distant Few:Etch Magazine vol.5 issue 2 states: their early US style punk assault on this cd with what seems to be a sincere understanding ofthere place and a genuine love for the style, standouts here include "Wild Dogs Run Free", "Pissed at the World", and the slightly Nick Cave -tinged "A Most Impressive Girl"......Static Zine#21 says:single version of "pissed at the world" which is such a cool song you'll wan't to hear it twice,Actually I've been playing this disc since I got it & it still sounds great after many repeated listeningsthis band continues to defy all trends which earns them a huge amount of respect from myself.... Indepedent Music Reviews says, "...the rebellious spirit this band posesses..imagine someone sticking out their tongue out at you while they pump out garage rock...". Underground Sound states, "...good tape with punk anthems....it's a cool headtrip. ..superb layering and a groovin vocal diposition...".vocals..soft and warm, backed by an atomspheric synth...its bouncy tunes and catchy lyrics will stick in your head for weeks", says Manible in Crisis in their Preimere Issue.Banned Thoughts, a University of Calgary paper, in their Garage Zone section, describes the band as "...post-punk rock style of the 80's and combine it with the avant-garage sound of the 90's...tender vocals reminiscent of Elvis...sweet but hard-edged rockin' tunes which radiate with Ramone's flavour...move along with the punk-pop hybrid genre...maintained an honest quality to his music...Alternative Press in their October 1995 issue says, "...drawing inspiration from Marc Bolan, Stiv Bators, Johnny Thunders and new wave synth pop, Ronnie Round sings songs of love, alienation and longing in a high, vulnerable voice...". |
