Artist History
Beautiful 2000's eclectic musical style is drawn from various genres of music and is indicative of Canad's diverse culture. Catchy songs with sweeping melodies, tight harmonies, and uplifting lyrics, are defining qualities that make their sound appealing and unique.
Formed in Ottawa in early 1995, Beautiful 2000 soon relocated to Toronto in 1996, refreshed with new songs and ideas. Their first studio recording (a four song self-titled EP)was released in March of 1998. It reached #3 on the HMV Independent CD Sales Chart across Canada which led to a feature on the cover of HMV's Indie Nation magazine. Their song "She Is The World" was featured on CFNY's 1998 New Rock Search CD and the TVO series, Get a Life. The song "Vessel" sailed onto the soundtrack of the feature film, Silver Wolf.
"What it is...what it was...what it could be...", Beautiful 2000's debut full length CD, was released on September 11th, 1999 in Toronto. It charted in the top ten at CHUO (University of Ottawa), reached number one at CFRC (Queen's University), and made it's way onto John Lyttle's (Music Editor - Ottawa Xpress) Top 10 Albums of 1999.
The turn of the century saw Beautiful 2000 bringing in the new millennium by making their television debut on January 6, 2000 when they performed live on City TV's Breakfast Television followed by an industry showcase in March 2000 at Brownies in New York City. In September of 2000, Beautiful 2000 supported "Sloan" during their University Campus tour in Ontario, and supported the "Grapes of Wrath" in December 2000.
The song "We Will Rise" (from What it is...) was featured on the acclaimed short film Three Stories From the End of Everything which debuted at the "Toronto International Film Festival," "Los Angeles Film Festival" and the "Cannes Film Festival." The song "TO-GET-HER" can be heard internationally on Air Canada's In-flight radio and was featured in March 2001, along with the track "Tired of Being Lonely," on the CTV television series "The Associates." On July 11, 2001 Beautiful 2000 performed as part of an industry showcase for Record mogul "Alan McGee of Poptones Records" (founder of Creation Records).
With a strong, energetic, and memorable live show, Beautiful 2000 seems unstoppable as they gain more and more momentum with each performance. As they gear up to record a prelude to their forthcoming sophomoric LP, it's clear to seeā¦ the future is Beautiful!
