Artist description
ASKA -- a band who needs no introduction -- slowly burned their way onto the scene with their self titled "ASKA" debut, they then turned up the heat a notch with "Immortal," and then literally EXPLODED into everyone's face with the highly acclaimed "Nine Tongues" album (a total instant classic that quadro-milli-multiplied their fan base overnight and made them a household name in just about every country you can think of). Nine Tongues did the trick all right, but these guys aint finished yet by a long shot. In fact, Nine Tongues was just the wind up to the punch. The new album "AVENGER" is the ideal follow up to Nine Tongues and proof that these guys are really here to stay. There's nothing better than hearing another eleven brand spankin' new back to back ultra-killer songs from a band who's previous album was so cool, you had to wonder if they could meet it or beat it, much less do it so quickly. The only downside to ASKA's prolific pedal to the metal writing madness is that eventually, their live shows won't possibly be long enough to let us hear all the songs in one place, at one time (kinda like Scorpions pulling "Loving You Sunday Morning" off the list because they'd written too many more after that!!!!).Okay, maybe ASKA will give us a few double live albums down the road to make amends, huh? Sure hope so. There is no stopping ASKA!! |

Artist History
Imagine traveling to far away lands, seeing sights you'd never even thought to see in your lifetime, and getting to play for lots of appreciative fans. Sound like a band dream come true? It is for Dallas based ASKA. In addition to playing the local scene for the past ten years, ASKA has been touring such places as Japan, Guam, Korea, Germany, Croatia, Bosnia, and Saudi Arabia. Along the way they've seen and done some amazing things like eating sushi in Japan, standing at Ground Zero in the Hiroshima Peace Park, and seeing the sights of Egypt. How did they do all that you ask? It started, as it often does, by being in the right place at the right time. After a gig at the infamous Basement Club in Dallas back in 1990, a man approached the band and asked if they'd like to go play for our troops overseas, courtesy of the US Department Of Defense. Of course, realizing what a golden opportunity they were being handed, they quickly accepted. Since then ASKA has been on thirteen different tours to military bases around the world. |
