Artist History
Antaios was formed by Sianaat and Scar late in the year of 1997, based on a jam where they got to hear riffs and ideas each of them had. Scar used to play together with Blod in Infest, so it was quite natural that Blod ended up behind the drumkit in Antaios. After months of rehearsals, they thought it was about time to hit the studios to record their first demo. They booked Mansion Studio for a weekend late in 1998 in order to record their demo entitled "God; the fake artist". Antaios were lacking a bassist at the time but E.N.Death offered himself to play the bass for them in the studio. The recordings was done and their demo was a fact. They spread the demo to labels all over the globe, but nothing happened, no answers at all eventhough they had gotten great respons from people around the world. At the end of 1999 Blod "left" the band due to different reasons. New battery rapeist is 213. As E. N. Death never were a full time member of the band, Antaios have never had a steady bassist, and still don't. Scar left the band in mid may 2000 which was a bad thing for the band as he had such a special voice and will be a bit difficult to replace. In January 2000 Antaios put the songs featured on the "God; the fake artist" demo up on mp3.com. After just a short while, they were in the top on both the Stavanger chart and the Black Metal chart. The respons was tremendous. After this there have been a few labels that have shown their interest in the band, but since nothing was for sure they signed with Art Vision for an official release of their demo. Then in the summer of 2000, More Hate released a split-CD with Antaios and Stigmatic Chorus. Unfortunately the dark spell inflicted upon Antaios fucked up their paths for some time after this. Sianaat moved around, Scar came back for a short while, before things finally took a positive turn in March 2002, when Sianaat moved into the forest with 213. A new guitarist, Haerfar, from the cold north was recruited, who stayed with the band for nine months, but the co-opertion was dissatisfying which led to his demise. The same spring Z joined, a singer with the perfect voice and attitude to fit the lyrics and style of Antaios. Then early 2003 Antaios joined forces with Archaon, who with his experience and skill gave the band a sharper edge. Under this period a lot of music was composed, and Antaios turned more extreme than before. Lyrically the new direction will deal with the all consuming power of chaos, and the material is to be recorded for a release titled ’Ruling Chaos’.
The new era has begun…
