Artist History Three Year Charm, founded in 1998, began as a weekly Saturday night jam session in Austin, Texas between high school students who wanted to have a good time exploring their musical abilities. It has since evolved into one of the most thought provoking rock bands of the day. “We just really believe in what we’re doing”, states frontman and guitarist Derek Templeton. “We think we have something to say”. It’s this type of passion that is infused into every song that Three Year Charm creates. Tackling issues from broken relationships to religious freedom, the band takes pride in delicately balancing personal experience with unique story telling to present an expression that is relevant and relatable to each listener. Three Year Charm is one of the few bands that welcomes this challenge, presenting a fresh breath of inspiration to people everywhere. Winning over all that they play for is a goal that the band takes very seriously and continually finds itself achieving. Experiencing Three Year Charm live is one of the few avenues that can truly convey the sheer power and energy of the band’s music. “Playing live is as much of a release for us as it is for the crowd”, reveals guitarist Ethan Hill. Bass player Jason Birdwell expands; “It’s really cool to talk to people after a show and have them tell us how the music relates to them; regardless of if it’s on some high spiritual plane or they just thought it was good to tap their toe to”. A strong work ethic, a genuine love of music, and a youthful enthusiasm that is visible to all they encounter is the formula that will surely garner Three Year Charm more acclaim as they move forward in their musical careers.
