Artist description
Pulse-width is just me, Darren. I sit at home in my little studio, and warp sounds until I get inspired, and then it all happens by itself (almost!) Usually I seem to get the best results if i start before the sun sets, and try and write an entire track before the sun comes back up. I know it sounds cheesey and pretentious, but thats just how it seems to work. |

Music Style
Uplifting, melodic trance. |

Musical Influences
Influenced by an awful lot of sources - Shihad (www.shihad.com - they managed to stay media friendly without becoming commercial), Nadir (www.nadir.co.nz - they have an infectious groove quality, and aren't afraid of emotion), Jaunt (www.jaunt.co.nz - they just write music that uplifts you, even if it's rock and not dance music, it's a fantastic experience), and then the list becomes difficult as it reaches into electronica and I start to not even know who wrote the tunes I like, or even what they're called. But you all know the stuff - it's the beat that makes you grin like a maniac and dance for many hours without a break ;) The bassline that moves your feet, the swirling synths that move your hands and arms, the melody that moves your mood into a Trance... after all, that's what it's about! |

Similar Artists
Union Jack, X-Dream, Obnoxia, as before, I really have no idea of who most of the tracks I like are by. Marmion? Yeah, Marmion. |

Artist History
I've been through a few incarnations: Silversuzy - played about 15 live gigs using rudimentary gear. b - short name, short lived, just too short a name. Pulse-width - current, better equipped, ready to start playing out at raves and parties again. I'm hoping time will supply me with a better history! |

Group Members
Darren (me). I sometimes get help from a few people, my friend Nic who writes some pretty cool tunes, people i met on Undernet's #trance. I think if i permanently collaborated with someone else, I would lose the 'one human's journey' aspect to the writing process. I really do need to write a track all in one go, it's the whole self-writing nature of trance. |
