Artist description
Goth and Punk have the same roots. Forgot that ? "Murder At The Registry" brings it back to your mind. The whole thing is being presented with a touch of 60's-retro elements and wild psychedelic drive. Attitude changes from dreamy to angry, which appears obviously in the dynamics of the live-shows. With guitar, bass, drums, synth and occasional percussion-elements as well as three voices, "Murder At The Registry" perform a sound that's unique. |

Musical Influences
We liked Depeche Mode when we were young. Some of us didn't. Some liked the Beatles, some did not. Some loved Rush, some still hate them. It's never worth a discussion. So what? We all liked the Sisters, Mission, Bauhaus, Christian Death and The Chameleons, but they're not with us anymore. Today we try to concentrate on our music, and there are and were so many songs and sounds that impressed us, that we, for ourselves, can't speak about specific influences. Where are the critics? It's their job! |

Artist History
Hooking up with Mart in 1991, Tom found his creative counterpart to form the band's nucleus as it still exists today. Numerous tape-releases brought some attention within the fanzine-scene in Germany and France. An even wider response was ignited by the release of the song "PUMP" on MICK MERCER's compilation "HEX FILES-The Goth Bible" Vol.1 . This was 1997, when our second guitarplayer left us, but with Mel on synths, it got even more interesting from now on: When supporting bands like Two Witches or Christian Death, the band proved that they were able to convince a wider audience without being well-known. After a short "reconstruction"-pause at the end of '98 we are complete again with Boris on drums, to prove our "live-ability": In February '99, supporting "This Burning Effigy" in Herford's SPUNK (Europe's most famous gothic club... sic!!!) a stunned audience was filled with enthusiasm. With a number of new songs in our repertoire we will be out aga |

Press Reviews
"This had to go on because of the vibrant madness redolent in much of their work, being exhibited here at it's most impactive. They have more explosive power than any of the other German bands, offering raw, primal power." - MICK MERCER in the HEX-FILES booklet; "Wow, each time I'm just about to declare "Goth is dead", they teach me better, fortunately. This band apparently has used the disregard of a broader public to fill a niche of their own. They do this in a taste- and purposeful way, musical development included. To roughly describe the musical span I should name at least 25 New Wave-, Gothic-, Artrock-, Pre- and/or Post-Punk acts, including Christian Death, Southern Death Cult, Chameleons or Peter Hammill among the well-known. I have to ask, why again a band that'll never get the frontpages, dribbling Goth-girlies in the first row,chart-entries, produces the most authentic recordings which really carry you away !" - TIMOTHY MOLDREY in Berlin's Zine BLACK BOOK "This group plays sort of hard-psyche-darkwave and I must say that they have a rather personal sound. Over an atmospherical background rise some guitar-sounds that are typical for noise-bands, to build the bridge between darkwave and U.S. guitar-music in the style of the Wipers or Sonic Youth. Songs change from hypnotic moments to forceful passages (....).... be sure to have found a new favourite band!" - JANIS KALIFATIDIS in FIGHT AMNESIA 2/95 "Wow! Regarding U.S.-oriented Goth-Rock from Germany, the "Blessed & Cursed E.P." of Brunswieck's "Murder At The Registry" is pretty much the best I heard in years. (sic!). Especially the killer-track "Cupido", which is a mixture of early B52's and Christian Death at the times of "Catastrophe Ballet" , justifies the purchase of this CDR. "Blessed Curse", stylistically to be described as "Joy-Division-bass-line meets atmospheric And-Also-The-Tree-guitars", is an other outstanding song, not at least thanks to it's beautiful chorus. The German track "Lied der Schwermuth" shows how songs with German lyrics should sound like. The song "Pump", also a four-to-the-floor dance-floor-compatible piece of Goth-Rock-music, should be known to some readers from the first "Hex-Files"-compilation. Finally the heart-rendering "Wo bin ich?" must be mentioned, which could be played at any eighties-disco somewhere between Grauzone and Malaria. To sum upthis band, excellent would be an understatement. Buy or die! - THOMAS THYSSEN in SONIC SEDUCER 1 |
