    Press Reviews
"...The songs from the album Mad With The World become addictive. He is the shooting star of the European Blues-Rock scene.""...He came, he played, he satisfied. He is the legitimate successor of Eric Clapton.""...Ballads, powerful blues-rock or new beat, it doesn't matter to him, he can do it all."Schweriner Tageszeitung (Germany) Feb 2000"...A tall, thin young man enters the stage and straps on a white Fender Telecaster. His instrument screams, howls, moans and cries... we are reminded of the young Eric Clapton or recent Paul Weller.""In September 1999 he thrilled audiences on tour with Long John Baldry, singing some of his own songs and playing fabulous guitar.""...Matt Taylor is a guitar-virtuoso par excellence. He is an exciting discovery in the blues scene."Nürnberger News (Germany) Feb 2000 “For some blues with a difference, go for this one, you won’t be sorry.”Blues Matters ‘97 “Matt Taylor is the best!…I love his band, his guitar playing and his album Radio City Blues and it seems like others do as well, as he has picked up two nominations in the British Blues Connection Awards.” (best album, best guitarist)Steppin Out ’96“Some might be surprised that a band that regularly plays the circuit would have such a classy product as this debut CD… an album that breaks the British blues mould, Radio City Blues may suffer the obligatory B-word in its title, but a pure blues record it's not. Anyone with an open mind should check it out.”Venue’96“…a fusion of blues, songs with a jazzy atmosphere, and even touches of reggae. A very clean sound, very FM… the songs are often extremely intimate exemplified in the superb Two Strong Arms.”Bluesborder (Belgium) ’96“Hard, driving, blues based funk, soul and R’n’B as demonstrated by Taylor on his powerful debut album Radio City Blues.”Time Out ‘95 “Taylor is the latest hotshot young guitar slinger on the block. He’s already been likened to a young Eric Clapton, and certainly going on what we have heard, it’s not a comparison that is without merit… a talent to watch.”Blueprint ’95“Matt Taylor has an excellent CD out which I’d gladly share with any prospective promoters - in my opinion, frighteningly good with lots of feeling and some very strong material.”Events SW ’95“Astonishingly mature electric and acoustic blues from the English newcomer, similar in style to Robert Cray, only much grittier and more raw.”Good Times (Germany) ’95“For its genre, Radio City Blues represents the arrival of a major player in the form of this young singer/songwriter/guitarist who’s unafraid to break with traditional music mores and tread a jazzier more experimental path occasionally… this is an excellent album revealing some enviable talent.”The Prisoner ’95“This is, in fact, a debut album to be proud of, but I suspect that Taylor is intelligent enough to know that given his youth, his best work is still ahead of him.”Blueprint ‘95
