Artist description
Lummux name their influences as Crosby Stills & Nash, Neil Young, Super Furry Animals, Beach Boys, Stone Roses, Nick Drake, Love and the Beastie Boys. This considerable cross-section of artists breeds a fanbase who are “anyone who has a appreciation for a solid tune and a kick arse band.”Refusing to perform anything but their own original material, the majority of the songwriting continues to come from Pete Wain, however the band’s creativity remains collaborative. Ian Morrison has become a more prominent songwriter and believes that, “The songs evolve from their first introduction to the rest of the band- so everyone has some part in the creation of a Lummux Song.”The musical ambitions amongst band members vary. Dave simply wants to perform the tunes with professionalism and respect for their influences. Ian's is to be better than anyone else. Pete's is to write songs that are better that Brian Wilson’s. Sam's is to act as insanely as he can in public. Steve just wants free beer. |

Artist History
It all began in the summer of '93. Ian Morrison and Pete Wain began penning tunes for themselves, but with big appeal for the masses. Most of those tunes were set down onto a four track, and the demos found their way to Andy Weatherall, who said he had been 'blown away' by them.Later that year, Dave Crewe and Matthew Payne joined the group, (at that time called HOD) on Drums and Bass respectively. Matthew left to pursue a jazz career, leaving the rest with no bottom end, so to speak.Scott Wilson, long time friend of all three, decide to join, and the powerful four piece Lummux was born. Around 1995, Sam Bishop joined on keys, having guested previously at a capacity gig at Manchester's Jabez Clegg. Then, as luck would have it, Scott went to work in Japan, leaving yet another low frequency gap. This was filled by Steve Jolley, making the current line up......which fell apart when Dave went to live in London for eighteen months. Frustrated by a lack of commited drummers, the group faced disbanding when Dave found the opportunity to return to Manchester and sit atop the drum throne once more. Now the group are kicking it about big Lummux style, and waiting for the opportunity for you to hear them... |
