Artist description KEYSER SOZE is the sharpest independent band to emerge from the Reno-Tahoe area. Primarily a ska band, Keyser Soze mixes reggae, punk, hip-hop, soul, funk and jazz into a hip modern sound that appeals to a wide audience. The band has established a solid following in the Reno-Tahoe, Chico and Bay Area markets through frequent high-energy live shows, independent record sales, local press and radio airplay. Keyser Soze has a new album due out next month with 9 new tracks plus a re-release of the songs off their first independent CD “Who Is Keyser Soze” which they have re-recorded and touched up for this album. Look for wide distribution of this album to many college and commercial radio stations throughout California and the western United States. Winners of the Ernie Ball/Music Man Battle of the Bands in Reno, Keyser Soze was invited to play at the Tahoe installment of the 1999 Warped Tour, playing alongside modern rock and hip-hop artists such as Eminem, Black-Eyed Peas, Ice-T, Suicidal Tendencies, Pennywise, 7 Seconds, and many others. Keyser Soze has also shared stages with several other successful bands in the ska and reggae scene, including The Specials' Neville Staple, Eek-a-Mouse, Warsaw, Red Session, Conspiracy, Slow Gherkin, The Ziggens, and Filibuster. The band was also featured at the Renegade Festival back in July 1999, sharing the stage with ska and reggae legends Toots and the Maytals, Wailing Souls, Junior Marvin and Friends, and others. Keyser Soze features serious musicianship from five of the region's outstanding young musicians: Jammal Tarkington on vocals and saxophones, Rodney Teague on trombone and vocals, Brian Trotter on guitar, Louie Bertino on bass, Eric Olivas on drums. Our immediate goal is to establish a regional western U.S. presence through relentless touring, independent record sales, press and radio airplay.
