Artist History
John Hammink's songwriting career most likely dates to the early 80's when he was a teenager in Ohio. Starting from 1991, while earning a degree in Linguistics, he started on a prolific recording career resulting in over 50 recorded songs to date, the earliest of which was featured in Nkenge Zola's poetry show on WDET in 1991. In '93 after his first European solo tour, he sent a cassette tape around the world to different street performers he had met along the way. The multitracked result was the genesis of his world music vision.
John's diverse history has spawned a seemingly endless collage of musicians, artists, bands, and studio talent around the world. In addition to recording dates in east Asia, John's latest projects include a celtic band, Elia; a improvisational collaboration with reknowned Israeli djembe master Aviv Ben Yehuda; and his signature band, Add Lib Lounge.
In addition to music, John is also a linguist and works as a senior engineer for a top Finnish data-security company. |
