Artist History
Christened Tempe’s shining hope by Get Out Magazine, Ghetto Cowgirl reflects the best and brightest of the Arizona music scene. The driving guitar work of Thomas Laufenberg highlights the tar and whiskey vocals of lead singer and chief songwriter Marc Norman. Mike Hill on drums and Chris Serafini on bass achieve a pounding rhythm section resulting in a hard rock, alt-country hybrid.
The March 2000 release of "Excuses for Losers" has led to good reviews, respectable sales and a noteworthy appearance at the New Times New Music Showcase in April 2000. Ghetto Cowgirl was voted best rock band in Phoenix by the attendees of this event.
Dynamic stage performers, Ghetto Cowgirl has shared the bill with The Peacemakers, The Pistoleros and most recently Cowboy Mouth. Equally proficient in acoustic performances, the band plays each Wednesday to packed houses at Tempe’s legendary Long Wongs on Mill Ave.
"Excuses for Losers", "Rock Pig", "Thing Like That" and "To the Point" were featured the Emmett/Furla films "After Sex" starring Brooke Shields and D.B. Sweeney and the upcoming "Good Advice" starring Charlie Sheen and Angie Harmon.
