Artist History
Turkoyz Monk-E was founded by Brent Stewart. The band name originated from two sources. The first half being a song written back in 1995 by myself and my friend Chris Grisaffi using MED on my old C= Amiga 500 (may it rest in peace) called Turquoise Illusion. The song has been DRASTICLY remixed and appears on "In The Shadow Of The Kaos Drum" (my first CD). The only similarity it bares to the original is the sample (of myself) asking that mind numbing question "Is This Illusion?". The other half comes from an nick and lets leave it at that. Over the course of the years I have dabbled in various types music. Music has always been a part of my life since I was born (with my father and uncles all being guitar players of one sort or another). Early on I leaned towards drums as my instrument of choice. Starting with the deluxe pots-n-pans kit (which was usually followed by that other well known percussive sound, the spanking). It was during the mid to late 80s that I discovered SID Player (one of the coolest home synths of the time). This fired off my interest in electronic music heavily influenced by the likes of Manheim Steamroller and C=64 Euro game music and ultimately lead to the purchase of a Casio CZ-5000 (which I still own *sniff*). Then, in 1993, there was the various guitar stints with a small garage band that never left the garage. And now, after several years of IT work, I have answered my calling to music! I had found my genre, my niche... So crank up the volume, power up those woofers... Its time to rock the house! |
