Artist History
R.I.P. ‘The lyrical undertaker’ began his rap career in 1990 as the second half of the rap group called Wikit Kimistry. During the years 90-93 the group did no albums, but several songs laid down on tape to established artist instrumentals was made. Generally those that heard these early creations were schoolmates or family members that encouraged the duo to continue writing and dropping songs whenever they could.
In 1996, while attending college, R.I.P. was asked to join an independent record label called Eargasm Entertainment. Shortly after helping make the first release by the label titled ‘E the compilation’, R.I.P. then became the Vice-president of Eargasm Entertainment. During that same year is when he officially began his solo career, shortly afterwards leaving his position with Eargasm and starting his own label SOULTAKER RECORDS.
To date RIP has finished his eighth solo project, which consist of 2 EP’s and 6 LP’s. It should also be mentioned that there was one compilation album done as well. The following is a list of the projects done.
The Prophecy – 4 song EP released by Eargasm Entertainment. Definitely a wicked project. The first solo release by RIP. From this project came an offer for a recording contract by an independent label in Georgia. Nothing came of it but RIP continues on. This project was only released in the local Ann Arbor, Michigan market. 1997
Versatile – the first complete solo album by RIP. Never released by Eargasm Entertainment. 1997
Epitaph – 6/7 song EP. Never released by Eargasm Entertainment 1998
Rest In Peace – Self-titled album. The second release by Soultaker Records. The first was a compilation album titled ‘Midwest Ridaz’ The album Rest In Peace established RIP and his family of New Breed artist as a force in the local Ann Arbor, Michigan market. Several songs were performed live. 1999
Relative Perspective…a lyrical point of view – album released by Soultaker Records. This album could rightfully be considered a classic in his arsenal. Full of lyrical content and mind provoking concepts. This project really showcases RIP’s lyrical skills. This album also was the beginning of Soultaker Records web presence with the selling of several units online. 1999
Da Next Level (step 1) – album released by Soultaker Records. The first step in changing the game. Step one was elevation of hip-hop through lyrical excellence. New production talent help push Soultaker Records farther with the release of this album. With new beats to go with the lyrical Prowess already displayed RIP felt he upped the bar with this release. The first of a two-step process. 2000
Da Next Level (step 2) – album released by Soultaker Records. Step two was for creation. By this RIP felt he could create his own genre in rap, which he has called Lyric-Hop. The final step for leaving a mark in the game forever. What is lyric-hop? It is what you get when listening to RIP. With continued mastery of his own genre come lyrical skills, matched with tighter tracks, and a flow to blow your mind. 2002
The One – releasing October 31, 2002 by Soultaker Records. More the mastery of his voice and style (lyric-hop) RIP may have finally put all the pieces together to hit at least his Midwest region with an album that is guaranteed to please. Hot tracks produced by dj-C-boss, matched with RIP’s skill have produced some real hits.
