Artist description
Phaser 500 is a full on attack of arcade sounds, 8-bit technology, b-rated sci-fi, and those big beats that rock and roll. The very nature of the two-piece electronic unit is technology itself. Joe Mendonca (samples) and Henrik Ryosa (percussion) founded the project -- Before they had even met! The two members communicate, compose, and create soley through the electronic world, via e-mail, Mp3s, and the internet. Stay tuned for a sound that will truely change the way you look at things. Highly recommended for anyone who ever grew up playing video games, listening to rock, or watching too much TV. |

Musical Influences
ColecoVision, Atari, Nintendo, and other classic arcade and gaming systems -- We mainly draw our influences from these 8-bit analog arcade sounds. Musically, we derive our sounds from the likes of Space Invaderz, Zelda, Mario Brothers, Pong, Defender, Donkey Kong, and many other fine classic video games. Phaser 500 is also influenced by b-rated science fiction films (The Day The Earth Stood Still, War Of The Worlds, Earth vs. Flying Saucers, When Worlds Collide, Battlestar Galactica, etc), and those oh-so-fine electronic acts that are rockin' and rollin' all over. |
