Artist description
Whether speaking literally or figuratively, Marianne Flemming has never been able to sit still for long. Born in South Florida, the genre bounding singer-songwriter has spent much of her career performing throughout the Western Hemisphere. She's played in Europe, South America, the Caribbean Islands and, for the last four years, the college burg town of Madison, WI. Venetian Dream was recorded mainly in Madison with her band, drummer Rizal Iskandatjach and bassist Kevin Revolinski. It also includes an interesting cast of her friends from Burlington, VT (Rachel Bissex), Miami, Florida (Magda Hiller, Rose Guilot), Stevens Point, WI (Joe Ebel), and a spoken word selection from legendary Dr. Bop (of Dr Bop and The Headliners). |

Press Reviews
"Funky, Funny, Fabulous" - Diane Ward, Women's Independent Music Show Host/DJ ... "Unlike the majority of singer-songwriters, Marianne draws from not just the acoustic girl with guitar tradition, but the diverse styles she picked up while busking her way around Europe, the Caribbean and South America. Flemming weaves, blues, reggae, jazz and quirky humor - eloquently displayed on her new disc, Venetian Dream. A Florida native transplanted to Madison, Wisconsin, Flemming is an all-American girl next door who happens to play and sing like you wish you could." - Seven Days, Burlington, VT. ... "Venetian Dream goes a long way toward demonstrating Flemming's eclectic tastes and considerable talents." - Mike Joyce, Washington Post ... "The CD shows off the songwriter's lovely, knowing voice, sharp musicality, imaginative lyrics and whimsical sense of humor." - City Link, Fort Lauderdale, Fl |
