Artist description
HOT HOUSE is a Christian Pop Funk Rock duo from Southern Ontario, CANADA. Their musical influences range from James Brown to U2 to Primus. HOT HOUSE is JEFF KING (Lead Vocals), and GLENN LAVENDER (Bass), who both credit The Salvation Army for sparking their early childhood interest in music. "We didn't consciously set out and decide we were going to be a Christian band." says Jeff, "But we are Christians, we have our own band, and we write what we know, so if that makes us a Christian band, so be it. We are comfortable with that label." HOT HOUSE was formed because Jeff and Glenn strongly believe that there is a need for the style of original music they play accompanied by the often challenging lyrics that they write. "We've been given this talent for musical ministry, it's given to us by God and we want to give back as much as we can of what He has given to us," says Glenn. "Jeff and Glenn are humble, sincere Christians, who are striving to excel in their gifts and use them for His glory. They've left their egos at the door and are very genuine in all that they do. I know God is blessed by how they have served him in the music industry/ministry." - Craig Douglas, Craig Douglas Band "We like to think of HOT HOUSE as a sanctuary for those who come to hear us." says Jeff and Glenn, "A safe place away from the daily troubles we all face and the messed up world we live in. It's a time to encourage one another, refresh our souls, worship, praise and offer up prayers of thanksgiving to God. It is OUR prayer that you will be blessed by our ministry and seek a more personal relationship with Jesus Christ." |

Artist History
Since their humble beginnings in the fall of 1996, HOT HOUSE played it's first show for an enthusiastic church youth group who quickly started to spread the word. Since that time, the Hh ministry continues to blossom and grow steadily. Early 1998 found the band releasing their first self-produced indie project, "the Saul e.p." The E.P. single "Renew Your Mind" has, and continues to receive Christian radio air-play across various parts of the Country. In May '98 and '99, HOT HOUSE performed to audiences of 700 at both The Salvation Army's "All Ontario Youth Councils" and The Christian Reformed Church's "All Ontario Convention". Three live television appearances in '98 and '99 on the Crossroads Television Station program, "T.Q." have further exposed HOT HOUSE to a much bigger TV audience across Canada with re-runs of their appearances being aired on CTS and VISION's Christian Video program "After Dark". All of this recognition brought HOT HOUSE back into the recording studio in May '99 as the result of an invitation from NEW Canadian Christian Label, FATCHANCE RECORDS to record two new songs for a compilation CD that was released in the fall of '99 with distribution though CMC Canada. Most recently, HOT HOUSE had the opportunity to tour right across the Country for the first time! In October and November, HOT HOUSE logged thousands of miles and hundreds of hours travelling the country end to end, willing to share their ministry to those who were interested in taking a listen. HOT HOUSE came home renewed, refreshed and excited about new interests in their music and ministry. |
