    Artist description
4 Nice guys striving to engage your mind with a rich mix of thick guitar driven songs that ROCK! We have our roots planted firmly in NYC hardcore scene, but have opted for a more musical approach. We are a veteran four piece making music that blends elements of harmony, melodic phrasing and aggression. (When necessary) It is so hard to put a finger on how many sides and faces this band maintains because we draw from so many places. But I'm sure you wont be disappointed!
    Music Style
A powerful sincere blend of melody and aggression. Our songs are riddled with hooks and surprises, moody and sexy and perfect for co-miserating.
    Musical Influences
Too many to mention. Generally any good music, by good musicians........

BULLETPROOF ZINE "This is what emo should sound like, and thats not an exaggeration either. This album has it all-the great dynamic changes, interesting tempo changes, interesting tempo breakups, gorgeous melodies, and actual singing(!) Five Cent Hero are not your average cute poppy upbeat band that most people equate with emo. In other words, no, they do not sound like The Get Up Kids. Instead I would compare them to bands like Jimmy eat world, and by a thread. Giving up the ghost, the album opener is a fuzzy guitar filled tale of lost love with powerful, heartfelt vocals, and some great bass lines. The Eighty Ninth Street hostage, Mayday, and If Sorry Were Nickels, offer up some more beautifully raw emotion for your listening pleasure. These are the kind of songs you so desperately need at the end of a really bad day when everthing seems to be going wrong. GET THIS ALBUM NOW. "316record" "Once in a while, a local band comes along and knocks you on your ass, and as you shake the dust from your Levi's, you ask, "who the hell was that?" The latest band to throw the Queens, NY scene off balance is the quartet Five Cent Hero. Their four song sample is laden with groove and soul and sounds great when turned up to 11 ("The Eighty Ninth Street Hostage"). Their Foo Fighters meets Quicksand styled sound doesn't hurt, either, as they give us a suped up, pop version of anger and suffering sans unearthly screaming, unnecessary distortion and downright stupidity ("If Sorry Were Nickels"). Almost with a tinge of roots rock, their deep lyrical content and heartfelt delivery gives the girls something to scream about. With their subtle yet very present guitar attack and strong sense of timing and precision, they give the guys something to raise their fists to. Call 'em emo, call 'em rock, but definitely pick this CD up and feel the power of Five Cent Hero.http://www.sound420.com/mike/fivecenthero.htmlWho are you going to believe anyway? Additional Info
Jimmy Lathrop played bass on the 3-p and silky motif ep. Due to his terrible personality and general uselessness, he was happily dismissed by the band.
