Artist History
"Either go big, or go home", advised a drunk cranked-out bum after a show in Salem, OR. These drunken words of wisdom soon became the motto of the up and coming rock band, Not Long After. "What's the point of trying if you don't give it everything every second you play?" asks Ryan, co-singer of the 3 member group. "It's not like we're the best band in the world, what makes us stand head and shoulders above the rest is that we just try harder." Well, he's right and try they do. Although they are a relatively young band, their extensive touring and hard work ethic is making waves all across the country.
Not Long After is based out of Vancouver, WA just across the river from Portland, OR. The band came together in January of 2001 when singers Ryan and Brandon found a crazy drummer named Chris and started playing shows throughout the Northwest. In May of 2001 the band released their first EP entitled,
"On the Road to Somewhere," put out by Caustic Records of Vancouver, WA. The pop-punk EP proved to be a great success and the band sold 1000 copies in 3 months after playing over 60 shows. Most of those shows were on the road during the summer of 2001 playing in 8 western states in such cities as Whistler BC, Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, Portland, Eugene, Salem, Boise, Missoula, Sacramento, Fresno, Los Angeles, Pheonix, Flagstaff, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, just to name a few. While on tour, Not Long After played shows with such bands as Slick Shoes, All Wound Up, Brodie, Shorthanded, Acceptance, Hangnail, Finch, Buddy Ruckus, and PDEX.
In the fall of 2001 the band took some time off to start working on a full length CD. Due to the excessive amounts of pop punk bands coming out, the guys decided to head in a more indie rock direction rather then their previous fast and pop-punk genre. Over the next several months, "Contrary to Popular Belief" was born. Not Long After went into the studio in early January of 2002 and started work on the LP which will be released by a new indie-label, HiFi Records. This new CD features 12 previously unrecorded tracks showing not only the bands new style, but also the variety their music provides combining alternative, rock, punk, pop, and emo into one energizing and emotional album.
Although Not Long After is still on their way to getting where they want to be, they get closer every time the band steps on stage or every time someone slips in a Not Long After CD. "I believe that you can achieve almost anything if you want it bad enough," says Brandon, "and we want it bad, very bad." Watch for Not Long After to start making bigger and bigger waves as they get closer to achieving their dream. It's only a matter of time until their motto becomes reality. After all, it comes down to "Either going big, or staying home." And guaranteed this band is definitely not staying home.

Press Reviews
-Jeff @ www.kingbanana.net wrote- Not Long After brings back some good memories. I met up with my current girlfriend a few times at a couple of their shows. I probably wouldn't have heard about them if it wasn't for her...well not until recently. These guys play all over Vancouver at the most secluded places. It kinda feels like I'm watchin these guys grow up and they are. When I first saw them I couldn't stop thinkin about how they reminded me of MxPx. If I remember right they were waving the Christian punk banner in the beginning and there's nothing wrong with that at all. Now they seem to be maturing into more of a punk/indie rock band. Depends on what song you listen to though. For the most part its pop punk just with a bit more feeling and not much bubble gum. These guys put out a pretty good album and I'm curious to see where they will be in a few years. A lot of bands seem to be adding a little extra sound effects during production to give a little more flavor as did NLA.
