Press Reviews
The Sunday Herald«...All three players use their instruments very imaginatively. Within this hybrid-style of theirs no two pieces are exactly alike. Yet all the cuts are meditative, full of repetition, soothingly voiced, and as calming as a still, fresh sunny, ocean-side day.» complete reviewThe Sunday HeraldHalifax, (Nova Scotia) Sunday August 20, 2000Stephen PedersenThe Telegram«...This recording is like a visceral travel guide, with Mohenjo Daro's music as your passport and personal jet all rolled into one. If instrumental music is your thing and you've a taste for some distinctly Eastern spice, Baksheesh is for you» complete reviewThe TelegramSt.John's, (Newfoundland) Friday September 22, 2000Mark Vaughan-JacksonVancouver Sun «...The sound of tablas and doumbek do not evoke images of Cincinnati, but that is home for the excellent world-music trio Mohenjo Daro...» Complete reviewVancouver SunVancouver (BC) January 18-24, 2001 Marke Andrews«...Exotic and hypnotic, textural and pure, Baksheesh is a rhythmic tour-de-force, laced with faithful yet creatively combined layers of traditional sounds.» complete reviewCity BeatCincinnati, Ohio March 1-March 7 2001Mike Bree |
