Artist History
Independent pop/rock act gift? won the ?Artist Development Industry Choice? at Musicians Institute, Hollywood in March 2000, and were honored with the inclusion of their song ?Anyone? in the MI Jams promotional CD. During that time they also finished their first self-produced 3-track demo ?Rec?.gift? was born in Italy back in 1998. It all started when Alessandro Cortini (singer/guitarist) took his music into a new direction that led him into the world of heavy loops and haunting synth passes integrated with his melodic songwriting. After attending Musicians Institute Hollywood (MI) for a year he teamed up with Swedish guitarist Pelle Hillstrom, known for his instinctual, moody guitar landscapes. The two soon began collaborating on songwriting and recording. Their different musical/cultural backgrounds and passion for creative freedom proved to be a succesful partnership that has inspired them to keep on working furiously. Their music has been described as alternative pop/rock with unexpected jumps and intelligent twists. The multicultural act is currently performing in L.A. with bassist, Maurice Verloop (USA/Netherlands) and drummer, Niklas Hallgren (Sweden). Together the band creates flavorful, haunting melodies carried by Alessandro?s dynamic voice in a bed of churning guitars and percussive grooves. Although gift? is a fresh new band they have already established a large following of devoted fans with their high-energy performances and their EP ?Rec?. |
