    Artist description
We have begun the crusade to bring REAL rock and roll back to the masses. I mean low slung Les Pauls..drums - big and loud..you get the picture. A notch above typical three chord punk, but still firmly grounded in our roots. Ah, hell..I could babble all day...just give it a listen!

HOUSTON HEADLINE-Sept. 2000 Review:TOPLESS FUEL - The Dragstrippers A short, and not sweet CD, Topless Fuel is full of great hooks, and solid, in your face musicianship. From the get-go this CD grabs you by the balls (OK I have none, but if I did they would be clinched). It picks you up, and throws you straight on your ass, and you love it. And at only five tracks long, you even want more of it. Kinda 70’s punkish, only with guitar solos, and currently popish with its vocals, but coarse in a true rock-n-roll way, Drag Strippers are keeping alive a sound that is an institution of rock. The guitar sounds are good and gritty, fat and crunchy, which can be said about the whole thing. The vocal and guitar antics bring to mind Ramones, Iggy Pop, Green Day, Cheap Trick, New York Dolls, and so many obviously, great unpinnable influences that I couldn’t quit listening to it just to figure out what or whose genes were in certain parts of the songs. The production is perfect for this kind of rock-n-roll. The guitars are loud, the vocals are loud, the drums are loud, the bass is loud. OK, so there’s more to it than slamming it hard to the tape, of course. It’s bright and makes you feel good. The band was captured in its intensity and vigor in a way that doesn’t often happen. It’s like they are in your living room. The playing is smart and tight throughout. A bombastic rhythm section made up of Kyle on bass and Gazza (Gary Rhodes) on drums is what keeps your blood rushing while listening to the CD. And the guitars of Blake and Chuck are what make your breath quicken. And throw in the vocals of Blake with Kyle joining in and you want to jump up and down like an idiot singing at the top of your lungs. Well, maybe that’s just me. If you get a chance to catch the Drag Strippers anywhere around town, and you want a night of pure, intense rock, don’t miss it. And get a copy of Topless Fuel.
