Artist History
barefoot was started in January 1997 when Jeremy McCarter met Ben Howarth at a local pub. They immediately started playing guitars together, before they knew each other’s last names. Soon they were collaborating and writing new music, driven by the same ideas and influences. They played a few coffee-shop gigs, but decided to expand. After playing with several other members, they finally found a match in late October '97: Adam Cissell, drums. They jammed together a few times and were instantly drawn into his complex timing and fast transition style of playing. They soon gave Cissell the 'thumbs-up' for membership, and the band was born. Later, in February '97, Cissell brought over bassist Andy Bonneur. They jammed on various challenging songs that he found ‘easy.’ The chemistry grew stronger as the band started to create more of their own sounds, fueled by McCarter's 'authentic' lyrics, Howarth's smooth solos, Cissell's quick transitions, and now Bonneur's funk/rock basslines. |

Press Reviews
"The degree of emotion and creativity in these songs surpasses many of barefoot's modern rock counterparts. Ripping riffs, textural guitar parts and solid drum grooves led by Vedder-esque vocals spruce up ballads and Hard Rock songs alike". - Jesse T., Listen.com |
