Artist description
Surf Music by guys who surf. We try to capture the feel of the surfing lifestyle, which is more than just head banging slashing guitars, not that there's anything wrong with that! Anyway we mix it up with loud guitars along with some real textured stuff. As surfers we get stoked by an Orange sunset in 6 foot waves or getting covered up by a wave in "The Emerald Room." Herbie Fletcher (big time 60's surfer and video producer) featured our song "Morning," from our first album, "If Everybody Had an Ocean," in his video " Cruisin." |

Artist History
Lots of Surfin" and music, But we didn't put the two together until 1994 when Brad quit the bar circuit after 17 years. Now we had the time to work on the tunes Dana had in his head for years. We live in the Boston area and surf year round. |

Press Reviews
These are some Reviews of our first album, " If Everbody had an Ocean." Two Quincy brothers have produced a musical gem, in this self-produced album of instrumental surf rock. Guitarist Dana Martinson and his Drummer brother Brad grew up a block away from Quincy's " Father of Surf Music," Dick Dale. The final result will remind few of Dale's all out sonic blast-furnace sound, aiming instead for a more mellow, introspective feeling. The poignant textures of "Morning," the calliope-like guitar on "Blue Dolphins," and the grand Spanish melody of "Mexicali Stomp" make them superb rock instrumentals. Fittingly the album's best tune has a local flavor, as " Egypt Beach Blues" is a majestic yet thoughtful musical ode to one of the brothers' favorite spots. Brad Martinson's production is spotless, and this CD sounds as crystal clear as anything done by the majors...Jay N. Miller, the Patriot Ledger./The Martinson's play vintage Surf Music, which is understandsble considering Dana Martinson is a long time New England surfer. This instrumental release supports an era of treble-laden guitar melodies and pounding drum fills, putting a new twist on a timeless, Although currently forgotten musical style. Produced on a small scale, "If Everbody had an Ocean" is surprisingly well mixed and full sounding. The songs are all originals although the titles allude to favorite songs of the past or standard surf fixtures. "Third Buzzerian from the Sun" is a spaceier rocking number, while "Morning" is a lazy drift through a mellow groove that inspires a picture of glassy dawn-shadowed sets.Surf music has switched to the supercrunch thrash level, and although it is hard to mourn the loss of cheesy bands like the Beach Boys, it's still good to remember the genres roots. If you need some theme music for a surf party or luau and want to avoid the standards, or are just jonesin' for some classic-styled surf grooves, "If Everbody had an Ocean" delivers...Eastern Surf Magazine. |
