Artist History
Skeezer formed in 1996 at Aston University and began gigging in early 1997. Initially a covers band performing tunes by contempopary indie artists such as Paul Weller, Oasis, Dodgy and Ocean Colour Scene they quickly progressed to writing their own material. By September 1997 they were playing a new set of entirely original music and began to play all over Birmingham. In 1998 Skeezer re-located to Moseley (arts centre of Birmingham) and began gigging regularly at the Jug of Ale and The Flapper and Firkin playing amongst a strong contingent of local bands such as Solar Flares, Silver, Mocca and This Amber Island. The highlight of their career to date came during this year when Skeezer won a battle of the bands to support Rialto and Audioweb. This was followed up by gigs at Bath University and Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club in Birmingham. At present Skeezer are temporarily disolved due to locational problems but with the right support and financial backing, getting back together is by no means out of the question as they all remain good friends. In the meantime all four members of Skeezer can be found working on other projects. Dan Cooper is writing and recording under the name Westgate and Cooper, James Bacon is still playing sessions in the Birmingham area, Ed Howat is a dance music DJ and promoter under the name Nice Guy Eddie and Paul Rizzello continues to play drums but also DJs and writes his own techno tunes. |
