Artist description
I started singing at a very young age. I can remember putting records on the phonograph and singing with them in one of the back rooms in our little house. My parents were so patient with me as I would hook up the amplifier and microphone and sing "loudly" for several hours at a time. Most of this singing was off key, but they never complained about it. One thing led to another as the Lord knew the plan that He had for my life. When I was about 11 or 12 years old, I taught myself how to play guitar and took a few pointers from my Uncle.I was saved in 1978. I started receiving songs from the Lord immediately after my salvation experience. The Holy Ghost didn't waste any time. The songs would come up from my spirit at the strangest and most inconvenient times. I would receive them as I was walking down the aisles of food stores, shopping in malls, and visiting friends. I would get them in the shower and during my personal prayer times. I can remember scrounging around for paper and pens during church services as ministers were preaching the word, I would be scribbling a song on a crinkled up piece of paper. He would give them to me as I would ride my bicycle in the country or as I was taking a morning walk. In 1994, I recorded my first album, "In The Last Days". It was a great step of faith for me, but I felt led of the Lord to do it. I was scared to death, but at the same time, I was very excited! It was like a dream come true. "Don't Pass Me By" was recorded in 1996. I had a little more experience, but still felt the pressure of all of the studio preparation and anxiety that goes with the recording and production of a music album. I couldn't wait to "do it", and I couldn't wait to get it "over with". "Revival All Over The World" was recorded in 1998. The enemy really fought the recording of this album. I didn't know it then, but I had a nodule on my vocal cords that really hindered my voice range. Yet, the Lord, in His mercy, saw me through this recording, and it has been a great blessing to many (including myself). The song entitled, "My Closest Friend", really ministered to my heart during this time. I felt like a failure as I listened to the finished recording of this album. "My Closest Friend" started playing as I sat in the studio with the studio technician listening to the finished product of all my hard labor. The tears began to stream down my face as I wept over the whole situation. The producer was watching me as I was trying to hold back the tears. He smiled and said, "It's okay to cry. I've felt that way many times after I've recorded albums. There's always that sense of 'I could have done better' that haunts you when it's all over. Yet, this tape has turned out very well. You have nothing to be ashamed of." His words didn't make much sense at the time, but today they do. Every time I listen to "Revival All Over The World", I get blessed. The Lord has given me hundreds of songs. I am continually amazed as I go through the stacks of papers that have lyrics written on them from years gone by. I never dreamed I'd be a songwriter. I never dreamed I'd record an album. I never dreamed I'd be a preacher and teacher of His holy word. The Lord has plans that we know not of. We must never give up on the call of God that's on our lives. His ways are so much higher than our ways. I don't believe that the Lord has given me all these songs so they can just sit on a shelf and gather dust. I believe He has given them to me for a purpose. I want to share these wonderful songs with the world. Songwriting is a gift from God and I count it a privilege to be a psalmist for the Lord. Today, I sing and minister His word all over the world. I enjoy leading praise and worship and training up others to move in this same gifting and ministry. I work full-time at a missionary organization called Latter Rain Ministries as an administrative assistant and Webmaster. I also teach in their International Children's Ministry Institute. The Lord has recently opened doors for me to be a part of the writing staff for two Christian Online Magazines. What a joy to be a part of the Kingdom of God! I'm currently waiting on the Lord for the right timing to record another album. I know, in my heart, that this door will be opening soon and I'll walk through it once again with His presence going before me. He is an awesome God. Nothing is impossible with Him. |
