    Artist History
bender was formed in the summer of 1999. After going through many prospective band members the love of a big muff and the discovery of the UFO button on a Les Paul guitar, brought Ben, Brad, and Aric together as Bender for the 1st time on Friday the 13th of August. At this point the only problem was the lack of a drummer, which was soon solved with the addition of the great Jeremy Hancock. They had a short life of about 8 months. Toured extensively, and then dissintegrated in march 2000.

"Lyrics:Imagine it is the middle of your senior year of high school and you just broke up with your girlfriend. You two had been dating off and on since the middle of your sophomore year. Two days after your break up, you lock yourself in your room all day and jot down your memories, both good and bad, from the past couple of years. Arrange your thoughts into poetic verse and you now have a copy of the lyrics from Bender's album.Music:Distorted guitars with poppy power chords drive almost all of the songs on this album. Chord progressions are not extremely inventive, but the arrangement of the progressions, with various stops and starts and volume changes, makes each song seem distinct. Although there are no 'ripping solos' on the album, the two guitars mesh well together to give the music the subtle depth that distinguishes good bands from the rest of the competition. The music is raw and the drums give the album a feeling of live intensity. You can tell the Bender guys are having fun. Melodies and energy on backup vocals also help to give the album a fun, live feeling. Lead vocals are appropriate, but sometimes very far off from the intended note. Overall polish is lacking.Personal:If you like Weezer and have any interest in local music, you will probably like this band. The vocals, guitars, melodies, and overall song writing are hauntingly similar to Weezer's first album in more than just a stylistic fashion. But, what can I say. I like Weezer, and I think Bender's CD is pretty cool. I like the live feeling of the CD in some parts, but I think they really could have spent some time on the lead vocals. Sometimes the guys are not even in the ballpark. I think the band is young and I look forward to seeing what they come up with in the future." Review by www.utahbands.com
