Artist description
Brad Dutz is a percussionist-composer-scenemaker, working on the fringes of existing genres, exercising a desire to find the resonant points between heart, head, and hands. His players this time out include trumpeters John Fumo and Clay Jenkins, wind player Kim Richmond, bass clarinetist Glen Garrett, bassist Trey Henry, guitarists Jim Hershman and Joel Harrison, and mulit-reed player Vinny Golia. For his part, Dutz brings to the table a gamut of percussion instruments, tuned and otherwise. Among them: marimba, tabla, bongos, teponatzli, daff, crotales, mega-cupchimes, kanjira, conga, rain stick, kidi, flangerbell… and the list goes on. Dutz, born in Decatur, Illinois, moved to Los Angeles in 1981 and has worked in and “out” of the industry ever since. In addition to doing session work for film and television, he has played with a wide-ranging array of musicians, including Frank Sinatra, Tribal Tech, Rickie Lee Jones, Leo Kottke, Jewel, and the noted Vinny Golia Large Ensemble. The list goes on. And the artistic trek continues. |
