Artist History
Arsenals BiographyArsenals are here to launch the return of ska music with a vibrantly new and cultured spin. Their innovative ³hybrid ska frenzy² is unique because of its conscious didicaion to authentic ska music.³Arsenals put on a pure Jamaican spin from beginning to end with the same kind of intensity that George Clinton and Bootsy Collins re-introduced to funk²(Derek Raymaker, Ottawa Xpress)Drawing on their British and Jamaican roots for musical inspiration, ex-Messenjah drummer, the late Crash Morgan, and brother James, formed the ska band while reminiscing about their favorite soccer team, Arsenal. The band was named in honour of that team and Crash and James would share the lead vocals.³Arsenals are a guaranteed high-energy good time.² (Lenny Stoute, The Toronto Star)Performances in Toronto, NewYork and Baltimore have blown away audiences, pushing up the ante for many other groups.Arsenals debut album ³STOMP², was signed to Moon Records in New York. While the band was working on their second album they were shocked by the sudden death of co lead singer Crash Morgan. The band members took some time out to re-group, and have resurfaced with a new found sense of collective energy and purpose. The band members: ŒDizzy D¹ Minott on slide trombone, Darren Edwards on drums and vocals, Dean Jarvis on bass, Tony Barrett on guitar, James Morgan on vocals David ŒComfort¹ Vassell on vocals and Mikey ŒCrash¹ Clarke on keys and lead vocal; are able to recapture the hypnotic energy that Crash once offered his audiences.³Arsenals are in your face, heart pumping, kick-ass party music.²(Reporter Richard Baker)Well the long awaited second album is here. It¹s being manufactured as you read. Look for it. The New Skallenium is here. Fusing elements of funk, reggae, rock and jazz the energy of Arsenals live ska show speaks for itself!ARSENALS 100% kick-ass ska - 2 Bloor st.
