Artist History
In a move that is becoming more and more common these days, former Atlantic Records artist 2NU, has decided to take advantage of the Internet's pro-Indie mood and release their next offering via cyberspace only, on their own label NU Music.OK, just imagine Frank Zappa, Bob Marley, Gil Scott-Heron and Joan Osborn getting together to write some new music and then hiring George Lucas and Mel Brooks produce and mix it.But don't be fooled, 2NU also has a distinct, serious thread that is present in every song. They use the humorous bits to lock you in, but the compelling underlying messages are as deep as you can get; with class and style. The performance, writing and production are flawless and the sonic specs are excellent. The 12 song LP presents the far broader range of this unique group. Still present are the surrealistic story telling, spoken-word songs such as THE SUBMARINE, THE LEGEND and THE ISLAND. However this highly produced work introduces a more serious side of 2NU with songs such as ZEN'D LULLABY, a sobering statement in light of tragedies such as the school shootings in Arkansas, Colorado and Atlanta or the reflective nature of A FATHER'S DAY and 32. |
