Artist History
Who are the Worthingtons? The Worthingtons represent an alternative and creative rock duet. It's name is derived from the suburban street that both muscians grew up on.David R. Lawler and myself,Merritt G. Zimmerman, reformed once more in 1990 to produce a demo tape of our originals.Dave wrote half the songs, other pieces we colaborated on. He also played guitar and sang. I helped along with rhythm, lead guitar,back-up vocals, and drums. Throughout the seventies we both colaborated on our own material calling ourselves "DL & MZ"....until 1990 when we agreed upon "The Worthingtons" for it's sentimental value. Our demo tape only included a select set of songs, six to be exact. Each song shares a theme and focuses only on guitar and vocals to convey the theme. When 1991 came along ,our lyrics became more mystic,so I included the drums.Three of these songs are on bonus tracks. Dave Lawler's major inspirations to his songs range from country to space.Musical idols such as John Lennon,Glen Cambell,Elvis and Frank Sinatra are a few of his favorites. We both appreciate other bands such as Beau Brummels,Critters,Searchers and Hawkwind. These bands and many more sparked our musical flare. Recordings of "DL & MZ", along with other friends we jammed with, will soon be released as digital compiles.I hope you listeners rock your socks off and escape with us for awhile. |
