Press Reviews
KONI 104.7/Pop Radio Hawaii, Paul Douglas, Program Director. "It gives us great pleasure in playing your music at KONI 104.7 and find that it has become a favorite with our listeners. Our listeners call in and express how much they enjoy your songs. Most especially, your music has hit a cord with our listenership. We continue to support your efforts in the music field. Best wishes to you on your continued success to the top!", as written in personal letter to artist. (PEOPLESOUND.COM LONDON ENGLAND - Occupying the ground somewhere mid-way between Steely Dan and that mysterious French pop/jazz artist Louis Phillipe comes this band led by Scott Hernandez. The playing is light, relaxed, and funky and the blues inflected guitar playing, reminiscent in places of Grant Green or Wes Montgomery, is particularly satisfying. This is the kind of jazz you would wish would come on your radio as you speed into the city at the start of a hot summer day. Looking wistfully back to the age of innocence Hernandez muses, "If I was a boy I'd play with my dog all day . . ." some of us may prefer to play a Scott Hernandez CD instead and walk the dog later. (MAUI SCENE - "Scott is celebrating his new hit single release "BOY", which is climbing the charts and reached new heights on Maui radio." (THE MAUI NEWS - "Performing a contemporary fusion style he calls "Pop'n Soul," Hernandez continues to impress audiences in Hawaii." (LISTEN.COM, NICK PEDINA - "Hernandez leads a tight Soul Jazz Rock group that brings back fond memories of the heyday of Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers. His tunes would work just as well at a condo association Jacuzzi party or an upscale disco. (OUT IN MAUI - "If you haven't checked out Scott Hernandez at Lava's... then oooo child you be missing out!. His original compositions are presented in a fresh upbeat style. A fusion of pop and soul. I refer to him as a cross between George Michael and Ricky Martin. His performance is enhanced by his good looks and winning stage presence." |
