    Artist History
Kicksville is a small town located deep in the hearts and minds of Conrad St. Clair and Mike Stehr. Founded in 1998 as a creative vacation resort, Kicksville's primary export is experimental, computer-based music produced by Mayor Stehr, Commissioner St. Clair, and the City Council. Improvisation, painstaking programming, melodic sensibility, and bizarre sound effects are only some of the tools used to manufacture Kicksville's aural nuggets of hearty goodness.

    Instruments
Kicksville's production is done at Town Hall, which contains a reasonably well-appointed MIDI/digital-editing suite. Since Mayor Stehr and Commissioner St. Clair are both bassists, electric and acoustic basses figure heavily in the development of Kicksville's material. Aside from that and the plethora of modern and vintage synthesizers on hand (or accessible?), some of the other instruments used include: vocals, African, Native American & Latin hand percussion, a cat (ASPCA approved...), steel I-beams, drills, squeaky toys, metal dishes, the occasional guitar noodle, and NO TURNTABLES?. Kicksville uses ABSOLUTELY NO canned loops, fillers, or stolen beats

Black-listed in the 1950's, his work is largely overlooked even though people such as Allen Ginsburg, Pete Seeger, and Woody Guthrie declared him "the greatest protest poet America ever produced…". The spoken word recordings fit so well with the music Kicksville was producing, it seemed an excellent way to re-introduce his work to the public...
