Artist History
Central Figures was originally formed by singer/songwriter Jim McGinty in the Spring of 1982. After recording their first demo and weathering the inevitable personnel changes, drummer Rusty Crowe joined in May of 1983. The band stayed together in one form or another for the next 13 years. The final lineup, which features Jim, Rusty, and bassist Chris Coward came together in the fall of 1994. After playing together for a year, the trio released the album "True To Life", which received some regional airplay on college radio and was generally well received. The band fell apart in 1996, with Rusty leaving in April and Chris leaving in November. Jim backed away from the music at that point, but thanks to the Internet and other curious parties, interest in his music and the band never waned. As a result, after a 5 year hiatus, Jim has started playing live again, with & without Central Figures. |
