Artist description
My main focus is putting out unique music that ties some of my favorite styles together, and represents a conscious vibe at the same time. Much respect to all who have been supportive and spread the word. Hit me with an e-mail if you like the music, and let me know where you are and what you think. Suggestions regarding my music are always appreciated, and it's good to know where it's getting out to. If there are any mcees or dj's located in the Bay Area who would like to collaborate...get in touch. I'm looking for the right people. I believe Hip Hop is all about expression...keep meaningfull Hip Hop alive-respect it. "Babylon 2000" is a collection of tracks I created which I feel reflect the tension I experienced moving into the next millenium. We are living in a crucial time, and if we don't realize the impact we have on eachother and the world we live in, what's the use? I've traveled the country(& to Europe)...inspiration lies everywhere. If we can straighten our priorities out, we can salvage the most important thing we have-our exsistence. L.A., S.F., Berkeley, Humbolt, Portland, Seattle, Phoenix, D.C., Orlando...I'm always running into gifted and soulfull people. It's all about life experience for me...the good, the bad, it's all a learning experience. It is focused in my music, where all my heart is. Strive to be conscious. Leave negativity behind. Respect... |

Press Reviews
(From Hip Hop Infinity(www.hiphopinfinity.com)C-horizon instrumental hip-hop does not usually evoke high expectations. So it's fair to say that I was pleasantly surprised with Analyst's Dark Beats N' Bump. His tracks were fantastically clean, and his keys and guitar playing were very well executed. Had he hooked up with some equally as talented rappers, his score could have been a perfect 10. As it was, the tracks just begged for vocal accompaniment.
The very aptly titled "Magnificent Darkness" displays how eclectically talented he really is. The keys, played live by Analyst, are the undeniable highlight, although the drums and various sound effects are ill, too. As if this cut isn't spooky enough, "Epic" hits you with even darker, haunted-house type effects. The scratched voice is creepy as well. He also knows when to change things up, because just when the drums start to get repetitive, they stop for a moment while the keys take over, then they kick back in with the aforementioned voice for company. The whole cut is about 30-45 seconds too long, but perhaps that's just my impatience with wanting to hear more dope material.
Think hip-hoppers aren't musicians? Check the Latin-flavored guitar on "Running of The Bulls" for a good example of why some certainly are. The subtle scratching and funky drums accentuate the guitar to round out the track in fine fashion.
The guitar playing and drums on "Transitions" are equally as dope, but it's the whistle sound that really kills it. The right emcee would have turned this beat into an outstanding song. A similar whistle sound appears on "Analyst Vs. the Beat Box," but the best part this time is the wonderfully played keys. I'm not sure who he's supposed to be 'battling,' but the actual beat boxing is almost an afterthought here amidst the tight drums and keys.
The only track with a rapper is somewhat of a letdown. Arc appears to contribute vocals to "Wind in the Willows," which features another sick beat, yet Arc doesn't quite cut it. His lyrics and flow are nice enough, but his voice just isn't that good. There's not much he can do to help that, but regardless, it's still an above-average track.
As it stands now, Analyst is almost definitely going places. Unless you are DJ Shadow though, it's tough to make a living off of instrumental hip-hop. Therefore, when he finds the right emcees, Analyst could be a name we are much more familiar with in the near future. (Albums are available at this website)
