Artist History
influenced by spontaneous free-form writing of the "beats", especially jack, ferlinghetti, and their predicessorwalt whitman - although not necessarily as jazz poems, but rather rambling elongated run-on wanderings --as truman capote once described kerouac etc in a personalmeeting/interview poolside at the red oak inn in thunder bay in 1974. truman was not impressed with jack. (trumanwas on a cross country car trip, and i was the innocentamerican literature grad student)other interests: harpers magazine; new yorker; blue; jazz times/downbeat; loved "sing out" magazine when it was easily available hereand downbeat brought me closer to bluenote and horacesilver etc.lover of contemporary jazz - lavano; scofield, archie shepp;ts monkbest jazz radio show - kate mallet (sp?) - cbc radio 2 -sundays 8p - 10p - excellent live concert materialsports - i'm an ex-high school footballer with bad knees fromold style cartiledge operations; hockey; baseball; pool;curling; golf...fully supportive of the class-action suit in ottawa againstalexi yashinif only we fans would "get-it" - it's only because we keepconsuming television games, and ballpark games - so whydon't we have the guts to seriously boycott until the salaries and ticket prices come down???and now a new computer with access to the world! and an excitingopportunity to record with ari lahdekorpi, and actually heremyself on digital quality cd's, and maybe even on mp3she said "get a life", so i am |
