He ALWAYS seems to find the best music whether he's just suggesting the bands to you or signing them and releasing their first crushing album. Such is the case withb this gem by A Life Once Lost. They are from my hometown of Philadelphia, a scene that could use some new bands. We have a huge fanbase here, but few bands (even fewer that do anything worth listening to). A Life Once Lost came on the scene at the end of the first onslaught of great new bands to Philly such as This Day Forward, Punishment, etc. They fill in the slot of most evil metalcore band and this album assures that they are prtty secure there, until I start a band (hehe...kidding). This one brings to mind such bands as For the Love Of and Eighteen Visions. One thing I must comment on though, the album says "No samples or effects were used in this recording" but I have to contest that. Either the singer's vocals go through some effects loop, or he cups the mic or he layed down way too many vocal tracks when recordings, but he is definitely doing something to make his voice distorted. It sounds really cool, but it definitely does NOT sound all-natural. Sorry Bob. 143!!
