    Artist description
Home Recordings is the debut CD from THE PORT HURON STATEMENT (music and lyrics by Chip Taylor). From 1993-1997 Chip was singer/guitarist for NC’s garage rockers, STICKY. STICKY toured the eastern US extensively and built an enthusiastic following with their rough-edged power-pop. Their second CD (DOUBLE SUPER-BUZZ) was released on David Lowery’s (of CRACKER/CAMPER VAN BEETHOVEN) Pitch-a-Tent Records in 1997. THE PORT HURON STATEMENT is a collection of pop songs written by Chip and recorded on his 4 track at home. There’s a hint of Elvis Costello, Flaming Lips, and Guided By Voices influences to be found in this 22 track CD. With catchy melodies, these lyric-driven songs visit the disillusionment of suburbia with just the right amount of tongue-in-cheek humor.

    Press Reviews
"they play pop-rock with the ferocity of a postal worker denied vacation." -from a review of Pitch-a-Tent Records night at the 40-Watt Club in Athens, Ga. From a Listen.com review: Squalling guitars lurch and pitch over the same rough seas navigated by bands like Guided By Voices and Pavement. Asheville, N.C.'s corner-dwelling Indie Rock kids need something to do on Friday nights besides getting beat up by frat dudes. PHS' clangy, slovenly Lo-Fi offers a better ticket by far.
