Artist description
Split Christie is a band mixing pop, punk and rock influences. From Coldplay to Fugazi, Weezer to Sonic Youth, it all comes home to roost on their new album "Here comes lunch" which will had it's public release in Jan 2001. Singer Amber McCormick delivers pop and punk rock in one dose of angst and innocence that leaves the audience burning to know more about what goes on in the head of this dirty little girl. Just when you think you know who Split Christie is they re-define themselves with a stronger and more amazing strangle-hold on their fans. Andy Espenscheid and Pat Conreaux take their duelling pop and punk guitars to war every night on stage, but you always want them both to win. You never know what's going to happen when someone new joins, but bassist Claire Ashton formerly of "Dagwood" has fit in nicely with the already solid sound of Pat Dickerson's drumming. Pat's experience with a multitude of genres leaves SC poised to do strange and wonderful things to the Pop/Punk genre we all know and love. You realize the epiphany when you hear the awesome power live. With their first self produced cd in circulation for almost 2 years with no hesitation in sales, their eagerly awaited album "Here comes lunch" has rocked fans for the last year and still going strong. "Here comes lunch" engineered and produced by Tim Gerron at the Music Lab (Austin) is proof that there is now pop/punk of a whole new flavor in Austin ready to explode on the rest of the world. By making the rounds in central Texas playing with everyone from Dynamite Hack to Unloco for the past 3 ½ years, Split Christie has turned their fans in Houston, Dallas, Ft. Worth and SA into hometown crowds. Keep your ears open for a new release this summer. |
