Artist History
Scribe Machine, founded in 1998, is the latest in an astounding new wave of electronic acts, loosely grouped in a category often referred to as "intelligent body music" - a mixture of trance-inducing techno, jungle and darkfloor styles intermeshed with haunting melodies and industrially dark noises; reverberating influences from Aphex Twin to Xymox. Behind the Scribe Machine duo is percussionist Cameron Scott, whose programming prowess is mightily augmented by the keyboard and electronic wizardry of Steve Zahler. In the summer of 1999 Scribe Machine signed a record deal with J-Bird Records and in Jan, 2000 they released their first CD, 'isolation loop'. The duo's startling debut, is targeted to be a huge success in all of the electronic and industrial clubs of Europe. Scribe Machine Has two Studios. One in Portland, Strange Void Laboratories, and one in Seattle, Fahrenheit Digital Research Station. |

Press Reviews
*listen.com: March, 2000 - "Abstract Technostyle maintains crisp, danceable elements.Eccentric effects hover ominously overquietly up-tempo beats." _________________________________________ *mp3.com stations: Talk about cross-contamination of genres. [This] is what happens when Delerium has a lunch with Depeche Mode, and then goes to Ministry of Sound for a drink. Don't expect these Pacific Northwesterners to stay underground long. A must have. --Zero Nine _________________________________________ Believe me - They have some lethal stuff waiting for a listen --The Brain of Typhan _________________________________________ [Scribe machine] Beams you to a ravaged Earth, where humanity hides in the decaying streets and plots to reclaim its destiny from Them, from theTechno-Gods...Deep synths, and steady rhythm. Tough to beat. --RaveNation ________________________________________ Scribe Machine, from Portland, OR, known for its knob twisting, keyboards slamming kids, shows how great electronic music can be!...Awesome synth texturing......! --Simple Desecration _________________________________________ Unabashedly forward thinking, very psychoactive. --Oscillations _________________________________________ Dark and moody trance music. Exellent. --Tronic _________________________________________ Sure to please anyone who likes technological dance music. --Electrodrome _________________________________________ Very cool techno band. Endless and Sweet! -- Atmosphere 2 __________________________________________ This is good electronica....sort of remeniscient of Enigma mixed with Moby mixed with Vangelis and a tad bit of early Nine Inch Nails thrown in for good measure. -- Buddah Radio ______________________________________________ An inspiration somewhere between Kraftwerk and Trance. --Music 4 Boys _________________________________________ Very British-sounding US band --House of Groove _________________________________________ High energy, great sweeping analog rhythms and pulsing drums. Trance meets industrial in an intelligent way --Sinamatic _________________________________________ Seriously wicked --Dance To Trance Or Die _________________________________________ The best drum sound on MP3.com!! --FractalFnord _________________________________________ Classic EBM-style from this Oregon duo that brings to mind the more euro-sound of classic German electro --Mr. Sulu's Subliminal Journey _________________________________________ Prone to sudden vulgar displays of science --Network Nijhazer _________________________________________ Total Excellence --Trance Euphoria ________________________________________ Imagine Kraftwerk with modern equipment! --All Things Electronic ________________________________________ Eerie, original. "Hey, is this the latest from Kraftwerk?" --DocDoo Radio ________________________________________ Everything about [them] just screams "Follow the music to get to the XTC!" Thats not a bad thing! Great club music --Freakin' Dang It! ________________________________________ Absolutely superb! Very smooth! Very Cool! --The Electronic Underground ________________________________________ A tribe called Scribe Machine, they won't let you down. --Triple G ________________________________________ Space groove hypnotica. --Lightning Storm ________________________________________ In the future, when machines permeate and pillage our minds, the Scribe Machine, the one who dominates those electronic information collectors will lead the usurpation of the world from human hands. [Scribe Machine] sounds like machines translating human thoughts into their language of digits and setting them to a soundtrack. --Barricaded Within Electronic Soundscapes Radio ________________________________________ By God they're right: matter is tyrannical! We must all download (upload?) our consciousness into computers as soon as it becomes technically feasible! --The Spacestation _______________________________________ [The Gold Room is] one of the *BEST* Melodic Trance mixes I have ever heard! This group has some serious talent!! DEFINATELY check this song out and visit there site... they ROCK!!! --G-Nyus Radio |
