Artist History
Hailing from Winnipeg, Canada, at the age of 9, Rayanne began writing lyrics and soon after began experimenting with melodies and rhythms. A keen piano student from the age of 10, Rayanne sought inspiration in all types of music and borrowed from situations in her life to write about.Enduring feelings of isolation living in the prairies, Rayanne's lyrics initially stemmed from her determination to move on to bigger and better things. Now 17, living in Toronto, Canada and almost half way toward her dream, Rayanne continues to rationalize her life, experiences and aspirations through her art of song. "Forget St. Vital, drown in cheap motels, just bring it to an end. Because I'm here and so sorry you can't be...", Rayanne sings on "Secret Circle", dealing with the difficulties in forcing your past to fade into the background in order to concentrate on your future.Rayanne not only sings of loss, but also the emotions evoked when her subconscious allows her to become completely uninhibited to write about anything and everything she desires. On "Independence and Soul" Rayanne sings about the godlike feeling she encounters when hearing and writing music: "A natural high in your melodic light, delicious arms to hold up, knock me out sweet song tonight". Rayanne also touches on the importance of being true to your art despite the negative views of others "I love you to frustration and everything in between....independence and soul take me away".Wise beyond her years, Rayanne is capable of inticing the listener into an addictive peak at her life. Singing about universal topics such as love, hate and growing up, Rayanne captures the attention of the listener in a unique and unpretentious manner. Rayanne not only searches her soul, she dismantles it and leaves it for the listener to reconstruct. |
