Artist description
Pulling strands from Bach to Zappa, Hancock to Fat Boy Slim with some deep groove fractal house, Rick drives for the pulse and finds it in fertile compost obsessively driven on vintage gear. The result is pure process, Gaia promise, hard driven on the edge raw soul precision. Ain't no Wonder his nanny called him Dickie. |

Press Reviews
"Rick Gehrenbeck aka Mr. Egg Germ released this first album on the prolific Plate.Tec.Tonic imprint out of Chicago, and it is a beauty. Y'all know that I love deep vibes and soulful melodies paired with infectious grooves, and I promise you will get truckloads of these essential ingredients when listening to this great CD. Some tracks almost reminded me of Abstract Truth-type of acid jazz, like "Bring Me Life" featuring the gorgeous vocals of Typhanie Coller. Other songs, like "Slo Ride", had me grooving to Rick's incredible jamming keyboard sounds. Mr. Egg Germ (by the way, a palindrome, as many of his song names incl. the title of this CD) put an amazing number of different styles on his first album - downtempo, house, funk and even jungle - which all represent what he calls "organic funk technology", and I wouldn't hesitate to put the word quality somewhere into this phrase as well." from: http://www.undergroundfiles.com/bassics/reviews.html |
