    Artist History
Marie Gogo, originally from Nanaimo B.C., has been a professional singer and entertainer for the past twenty years. She spent seven years as the leading lady in the Frantic Follies Vaudeville Revue in the Yukon and is a member of the Juno Award winning group Jerry Alfred and the Medicine Beat. Her repertoire reflects her passion for vintage music, particularly songs from the twenties to the late forties, both standards and obscure tunes. With vocal similarities to Jo Stafford and Rosemary Clooney, Marie is the featured singer with two Toronto big bands, The Acrobat Big Band and the Bob Cary Orchestra. As for her own band, Bathtub Gin, Marie collaborates with an impressive group of musicians. They are Norm Amadio at the piano, Fred Duligal on the saxophone, Ron Johnston on the upright bass, Michelle Josef (former Prairie Oyster drummer) on the drums and Lori Nancy Kalamanski’s (Scope Girl and Harveys Burger Girl )on harmony vocals. These high caliber musicians have played along side such well-known musical greats as Cab Calloway, Chet Baker and Prairie Oyster. Combine that with two harmonious voices that blend as if they were sisters, mix in some sophisticated fun and you’ve got Marie Gogo and Bathtub Gin. If you like the wonderful music from the good old days and would enjoy a trip down memory lane or if you would just like to have a good time swinging to some really fun songs then Marie Gogo and Bathtub Gin are the winning combination for you. NORM AMADIO Born in Timmins, ON. Has the Norman Amadio Trio with Alex Lazeroff & Bob Price or Rosemary Galloway. Has played with Anita O'Day, Carmen McRae, Dinah Washington, Mel Torme, Maxine Sullivan, Robert Goulet & Cab Calloway. Stan Getz, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, Zoot Sims, Roy Eldridge, Terry Clark, Joe Williams, Dekota Stanton, Al Hirt, Chet Baker & Miles Davis. Was in the Wayne & Shuster orchestra. In Search Of The Roncesvalles Dream By Paul Thompson Dec. 1997, Jan. Feb. 1998 "An outstanding example was the singer and saw player Marie Gogo who performed one surprise after another. I knew I was privileged to meet a truly fine artist when, near the end of an otherwise authentic rendition of Judy Garland's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," Marie interposed an eerie and breathtaking finale on the saw. There wasn't a dry eye in the place --- remarkable!" "Marie's voice is delicate and hypnotic, with tones of cherubic sweetness. "Dawson City Music Festival" Marie Gogo sings sometimes powerful and sometimes dream-like.....Whoever loves beautiful voices and wants to be entertained in a contemporary way, should find Marie Gogo the right person. "Country Circle Magazine Germany The common thread throughout ["You Were Made For Love"] is that this is a vocalist of quite astonishing versatility who can take control of any lyric and is not intimidated by a melody line, no matter how tricky. The performance has top notch enunciation and a very refined approach. Miss Gogo's voice has a warm, intimate quality with a rich vibrato. It is an excellent trained singing voice and on this tape, Miss Gogo shows she can use it on any kind of song. Nanaimo Daily Free Press"...Marie Gogo was really good as the steamy, manipulative Elvira, pouting and scheming and Gogo seemed really at ease with this character."Cbc Radio NorthReview of Blithe Spirit"...whirling dervishes who, accompanied by wide smiles and Marie Gogo's charming voice and guitar, koocheekoocheed their rippling muscles and curves into the hearts of the hilarious audience." The Klondike SunDawson City, Yukon
