    Artist History
This American duo from Nashville, Tennessee has traveled the world for the last six years, playing and living the blues. Twenty-two countries later they are now amazing audiences at clubs and festivals throughout Europe. They’ve worked and played with such greats as Louisiana Red, The Junior Wells Band, Little Milton, Larry Garner, Bob Brozman, Taj Mahal, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, John Jackson, Eric Bibb, Mick Taylor, Popa Chubby, Angela Brown, Wallace Jenkins, and Candye Kane, just to name a few. Representing decades of classic blues, they conspire to engulf you in a musical trance that weaves the stories of pain and suffering, of hope and disparity, of love and lust, into an evening that is not to be soon forgotten. They personalize the Blues of Robert Johnson and Willie Dixon, from "Blind Willie" McTell, and "Big Bill" Broonzy, to B.B. King and Hendrix, while throwing in a few surprises and some of their own songs along the way.Lance plays the guitar, bottleneck slide, lap steel guitar and sings, Donna plays percussion and adds vocals, as they bring you along with them on their journey of ‘Travelin’ Blues’.

" ... They made a lot of people very happy at the festival, as the night continued until very late by the grace of the ‘roots duo’ from Nashville, Lance and Donna, two atypical people who’s human and musical way is extraordinary."Festival National de Blues ‘98Le Creusot, FR.Guitariste Magazine"Lance is a great musician: from his 42 dollar guitar, he pulls the sounds more ‘roots’ than you can imagine ... in concert, they are capable of miracles."Bluesboarder Magazine""They are good in every sense of the word, good, really good! They have enough talent for four, for ten, perhaps for the whole world!"Cognac Blues Passion ‘98 Cognac, FR.Sud Ouest"They dive into the music like Obélix into a magic potion... Evenings like this, one asks for again."Le Courrier Nord-Est Hebdo"They sweat the blues... they play tight and demanding music which spits out slices of life, be they pleasant or not ... Lance and Donna left a really big impression on this festival!"Cognac Blues Passion ‘97 Sud Ouest"Here is a gorgeous blues duet who needs no one else, as their talent is so present one could touch it, be it on stage or listening to this CD. Lance Harrison & Donna Howley came from Nashville, Tennessee, the cradle of country music. They are not from the heart of the Delta, as their very "rootsy" blues could let you think. As well as the captivating country styled singing, Lance is a king of the slide guitar and bottleneck. The most important French blues festivals have hosted them and sing the praises of these two conquistadors of blues music. They are not common people and from a different time. Lance & Donna have been around, having played with living legends such as Louisiana Red, Little Milton, Larry Garner, Walter Wolfman Washington, Taj Mahal and so many others. In this album, they make their own without forgetting the nature of Robert Johnson’s songs Crossroads and Come On In My Kitchen, as well as Elmore James, Cow Cow Davenport... This is Art! On stage, their performances are real lessons in authenticity, that takes the audience to such indescribable spheres that only those who have met the blues can understand. Everywhere they perform, it’s a rendezvous with emotion. Lance & Donna’s CD is a pure marvel. These two, most atypical, must be discovered - or rediscovered - at once!" Serge - Blues & Co. # 9Trimestriel, Septembre, Octobre, Novembre, 99 "It’s hard for "travelers" to settle somewhere, but it seems they did manage to do so to produce their first album. Lance (voc, g) and Donna (perc) take us back to the roots with a musical journey mixing tenderness, violence and sadness. The intensity that comes out of this duo is powerful and simple. Lance’s voice is rough and intense, as he paints the musical portrait of the blues from the beginning of the century with "Dust My Broom". He is a master of the guitar, no one can deny this. Lance plays "Can’t Get That Stuff No More" on the Gibson lap steel from 1938 (original instrument). His playing is simple, fluid, and transports us to the blues of the Delta. You can equally savor the interpretation of the themes of "Death Don’t Have No Mercy" on the "Fine Reso-phonic" guitar, on "I Ain’t No Iceman", on a steel Dobro, without forgetting "Come On In My Kitchen" on the slide. All this, for our pleasure, is held together by Donna’s steady beat on the rainstick. In these times when so many musicians are recording albums meaning nothing, you may stop a while on this album where it is breathing the need to tell the continuing story of the blues. You must appreciate the themes interpreted with the purest respect for tradition and Lance’s great creativity and talent to improvise. This album is indispensable for blues lovers."
