Artist History
Twisted Roots exudes real and timeless music best described as 'songs' about keeping dreams alive in a world that can easily squash them. The music has been described as moody, trippy, driving, & melodic. No shocking gimmicks or trends. Songs written with an acoustic guitar and a vocal then embellished upon. It’s heart and soul music about the things that can tip the balance of life; but with an in your face attitude. High Energy Thumpin' octane...Before founding Twisted Roots, Jason was on the Bad Boys of KISS tours as lead singer and guitarist for Peter Criss of KISS. With Criss, he toured North America on a double billing with The Ace Frehley band. When KISS reunited in 1996, he decided to pursue his own music. No make-up necessary. Tiger Shaw and Jason have known each other since 1991, playing in different bands both together and seperately. Bassist Chris Hammer brings musical variety to Twisted Roots, playing keyboards in addition to vocals. Music Connection Magazine connected Chris to Twisted Roots. "Yea, I'm a Kanook, you know?" says this Canadian talent who has his own company called "Emerald Music".The band is currently breaking in Brett Dearth, who sings and also plays keyboards and guitar. Brett met Jason when Ebs was playing at "The Offramp" in Seattle with Peter Criss. Afterwords, they all went out and went...wait, "where did we go? What did we do?" "Well, it was fun" the both agreed. Then they bumped into each other at Venice Beach a year later in 1996. "We don't know why it took so long to jam together, but it feels good" says Brett. "This is the icing on the cake, the musical depth that we've been looking for" says Jason Ebs. "Brett's a great musician and friend, I'm glad that it's working out..."In the rehearsal studio, there's rarely a break. Chris will go to keyboards while Jason's on Drums and Brett's on guitar (Tiger loves the microphone, but watch the volume!). "That's what happens when everybody plays several instruments--we accidentally jam through our breaks. Rehearsal always seems too short anyway...". Everyone agrees.Songs on this site are samples from the upcoming record called "Misdirected Passion". The song 2000 Years, is perfect for a satirical release for the holidays. It comes with a full blown star-studded video . Meant to be, the second song on the CD, is a crossover ballad, and Dreams May Fade deals with people who bury their dreams and live with the regret. The video for this song is currently being edited. Ray Peschke (Natural Born Killers, Three Kings) of RayTeam shot both videos.Lastly, the acoustic version of Precious Ways spotlights the beauty and simplicity of a vocal and an acoustic guitar. Additional production optional…These guys are going into the studio on September 23rd to record a few tunes, including the new song "Clone A Soul", "Help Me", and one other. If you have a suggestion to which other one we should do, email it to us and we'll tally up your suggestions. You can catch live videos from The Joint in Los Angeles for both songs at: www.wantedbands.com. Click on the "Rock" catagory, then they're the second band.We all have Twisted Roots. They make us who we are. They are reflected in our behavior, lifestyle, and mentality. We as people often bury them and get caught up in everyday life; but out of sight is not out of mind. Although the tide comes in, footprints in the sand remain, often in a negative form passed on to the ones we love. Becoming aware of your roots and facing them gives us the stability and strength to pursue our dreams. Dream On...OTHER WEB SITES: TwistedRoots.iuma.com www.twistedroots.net |
