Artist description
It seems like all you hear about anymore is "Alternative" music and every band seems to want to be the last one to get on the band wagon to success. The easy way. Just cop the latest hair style, play out of tune and you'll be the next big thing. This Tortured Soul is not an alternative band. They are not a flavor of the month. They are a real band that plays music the only way they know how. Loud, heavy and straight from the gut. |

Artist History
Todd Guerrieri and Chuck Robinson, long time aquaintences since Chuck's days in N.M.E., got together with some friends to jam on some cover tunes. Todd knew a bass player, James Babcock and Chuck knew a vocalist, Scot Edgell, from his days in N.M.E. and Dofka. Immediately, there was a great chemistry. They started writing new songs and in a few weeks recorded their first demo. Before the four had ever played a show, they drove to LA in September of 1994 to attend the Concrete Marketing Foundations Forum. While soaking in sun, beer, cheap perfume and a lot of information, they returned to Pittsburgh charged for bigger and better things. In December of 1994, they began recording "Gravity", a six song CD. After it's release in the following spring, it slowly circulated the world, earning critical praise wherever it was heard, a perfect combination of riffs, groove and melody. All the while the band played wherever they could to build a loyal following. The word was getting around. In August of 1996, This Tortured Soul released their second demo. The new demo perhaps is the best sample yet of This Tortured Soul live. It's raw, but never sounds sloppy. Heavy but not pointless. Not alternative, but the alternative. |
